Travelling By Air : -

There are two ways to Koh Samui Island:
Bangkok Airways - most convenient - most expensive!
Thai Airways - to Suratthani, then surface ... way cheaper!

Travelling with Bangkok Airways
A domestic ticket for Bangkok Airways from Bangkok to Koh Samui can be booked at any local travel agency or at Bangkok Domestic Airport. Bangkok Airways offers direct flights from various cities in Thailand...Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, just to mention a few of them, and Singapore as well. There are approx. 12 flights a day coming in from Bangkok, far less flights from or to other destinations. To avoid inaccurate or misleading information we won't give you timetables here and ask you to look up Bangkok Airways yourself. Keep in mind that the airport tax for inland flights leaving Koh Samui is 400 Baht/person.
Travelling with Thai Airways
A domestic ticket for Thai Airways from Bangkok to Koh Samui can be booked at any local travel agency. Thai Airways flies from Bangkok to Suratthani about three times daily (and back). The flight is about two thirds the price of Bangkok Airways, but will take you much longer, because bus transfer and ferry ride add up to another three hours travelling. After arriving at Surat Thani Airport (about 1 hour), you can take an air-conditioned bus to Koh Samui. Tickets are also available at Bangkok Airport. The ferry transfer is included because the bus uses the ferry (busses cannot swim :-) Check out the domestic Thai Airways site for details!.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
For what kind of flight you ever decide: Do not forget your baggage! This is very important if you intend to go on to a domestic airport. Your baggage will not be redirected automatically at Bangkok Airport, so you'll have to pick it up, move to the domestic terminal and check-in your baggage again. You would not be the first traveller arriving on Koh Samui, with the baggage left behind in Bangkok ...
